NEW PICTURES: Man found dead at Barrow Hill home
Police investigating the death of a man have cordoned off a street in Barrow Hill and a shopping area in Staveley.
There were three police cars and two ambulances at the scene on Campbell Drive and two police officers near Morrisons in Staveley.
As of 5pm both areas remained cordoned off by tape as police continued their investigations.
A spokesman for Derbyshire police said they were called at 2.15pm to a property on Campbell Drive in Barrow Hill.
A man at the property was subsequently found dead and an investigation was launched.
Shocked residents stood around the nearby streets, talking and hugging each other for support.
One Barrow Hill man who didn’t want to give his name said: “It is shocking. We do get trouble from time to time but nothing like this. It’s mad.”
“We’ve just been out to Chesterfield and when we got back we were told our bus couldn’t go up Campbell Drive. That was about half three.”
Another lady, whose friend lives on the street opposite Campbell Drive, said: “It’s really shocking - I was just coming back from picking my son up and the bus in front of us was told it couldn’t go up Campbell Drive.”
“My friend has lived in Barrow Hill for eight years and the worst she’s has is her wheelie bin being set on fire.”
More on this story will follow as and when we get it.
