New lease of life for historic chimney in Peak District

AN HISTORIC chimney has been restored to its former glory thanks to funding from Natural England.

The landmark chimney was built as part of the Litton Mill boiler house in Miller’s Dale during the 19th century.

The chimney – which was on the verge of crumbling – was restored by Bakewell architects Smith and Roper.

Ben Rodgers, of Natural England, said: “We are delighted to have played our part in maintaining this well-known feature, which will ensure it will be maintained as a truly living historic landmark for generations to come.”

Owners Kevan and Bettina Wylie said: “It is a privilege to be custodians of a unique part of history which has been lovingly restored.”
