New gym a good fit for Co-op site

Global gym chain Snap Fitness has opened its first gym in Derbyshire at the former Ilkeston Co-op site, in a bid to bring new jobs to the area.

Snap Fitness, which has more than 1,800 gyms worldwide, has taken over a newly-refurbished unit at the former Co-op store.

The state-of-the-art, 24/7 gym has a full range of brand new, top of the range cardio equipment, free parking with direct access to the gym, and highly spacious free weight and pin loaded weight areas, which have been targeted at supporting gym-goers at all abilities.

Daniel Smith, area manager at Snap Fitness, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the new gym at the former Co-op, it’s a great building in a good location. The gym floor is really spacious, which allows us to provide equipment for everyone. We try to produce a relaxed atmosphere and no-one is judged.”

Nottingham-based ALB Commercial Investments now has three units remaining for lease, with plans to transform the upper floors into 66 apartments (pending planning permission).
