The Buxton Advertiser will be widely distributed in newsagents across Glossop from Thursday, in a move aimed at further boosting the newspaper’s comprehensive news and sports coverage of the High Peak.

The new Glossop edition, which will also cover the areas of Hadfield, Padfield, Simmondley, Dinting, Gamesley, Old Glossop, Charlesworth, Chisworth and Tintwistle, will carry dedicated front and back pages, in addition to others inside.

Jonathan Dodds, Editor of the Johnston Press-owned title, said: “Launching a new edition and extending a newspaper’s circulation area may be seen as a bold move, considering the difficulties faced by the industry in recent years, but we are confident we are ready for the challenge.

“We have been at the heart of our community since 1842, serving thousands of loyal readers across the High Peak, Hope Valley and Derbyshire Dales each week, and we are looking forward to providing this same level of service to the residents and businesses of Glossop.”

In February, the Buxton Advertiser underwent a major redesign and the fresh, bright new look has proved a big hit with readers. As well as improved postbag and neighbourhood news sections, a puzzles page and reader picture section were introduced, along with the popular monthly nostalgia supplement Memory Lane.

Jonathan added: “We want readers to get involved in our new venture too. If there’s an issue that matters to you, then it matters to us too.”

The Buxton Advertiser is out every Thursday, priced 75p.
