New call for visitors to avoid hospital if unwell

People are urged to stay away from Derbyshire’s hospitals if they feel even slightly unwell to prevent the spread of Norovirus winter vomiting bug.

The Health Protection agency have already indicated that there are up to 83 per cent more cases of Norovirus than this time last year and NHS staff desperately trying to prevent the infection spreading further.

Matron Sue Dakin said: “We are requesting that visitors don’t come to hospital if they feel unwell or for 48 hours after their symptoms have gone. We know it’s difficult for relatives who feel they ought to come in but the risks are very high.”
