New acts added to line-up for Indietracks Festival

The Hidden Cameras will headline Indietracks on Sunday evening, whilst Friday night is headlined by London/Australian indiepop band Allo Darlin’. Headlining on Saturday evening is Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys.

Other bands added to the bill are: Laura J Martin (UK), TeenCanteen (UK), Los Cripis (Argentina), The Just Joans (UK), Linda Guilala (Spain), Elopes (UK), Big Joanie (UK), Axolotes Mexicanos (Spain), Slum of Legs (UK), Cosines (UK) and MJ Hibbett and the Validators (UK),

The remaining bands confirmed for the festival so far are Dean Wareham (US), Spearmint (UK), Rocketship (US), Withered Hand (UK), The Popguns (UK), Sweet Baboo (UK), The Spook School (UK), The Wellgreen (UK), Let’s Wrestle (UK), Night Flowers (UK), ONSIND (UK), The Very Most (US), The Blue Minkies (UK), The Yawns (UK), Thee AHs (Canada), Franny and Zooey (Dominican Republic) and Lost Tapes (Spain).

Tickets are now available at an early bird discount price of £65 (weekend) and £35 (day). These cheaper prices are available until 5pm on Sunday, May 11. After this date, prices will be £72 (weekend) and £38 (day). Weekend tickets for children aged 5-15 are £10, or £6 for a day ticket. Children under 5 get in free.

The Hidden Cameras, hailing from Toronto, have released eight albums, including three albums and an EP on Rough Trade. Fronted by Joel Gibb, the band consists of a varying roster of musicians who play what Gibb once described as “gay church folk music.” Their live performances are often elaborate, high-energy shows, featuring go-go dancers in balaclavas and choirs.

Fuzz-pop band Joanna Gruesome, are a five-piece band from Cardiff whose sound is said to span both punk and indie, and has been described as being reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine, Huggy Bear and Dinosaur Jr. Their album Weird Sister, released on Fortuna Pop! In 2013, was described by Pitchfork as “one of the most purely exuberant, hook-stuffed indie-pop records you’re likely to hear this year”. Huw Stephens, BBC Radio One DJ, has described them as “a brilliant band from Cardiff who love their fuzzy melodies and songs dripped in scuzzy reverb.”

Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages: the outdoor stage, the indoor stage, the church and on the steam trains themselves. The festival will also host a range of art and craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish.

This is the eighth annual Indietracks festival, which takes place at the Midland Railway in Ripley, in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. The site houses a whole range of lovingly restored steam diesels and locomotives. Festival goers are able to have unlimited rides on the steam railway over the weekend and full access to other railway attractions and museums.

Previous headliners at Indietracks have included Teenage Fanclub, Camera Obscura, Edwyn Collins, Veronica Falls, The Wedding Present, Los Campesinos, Summer Camp and The Vaselines.
