Names of young father and daughter, 6, who died in Derbyshire crash are released

The names of a father and daughter who died in a road crash in Derbyshire have been released.

Derby coroners' court said an inquest into the deaths of James and Ruby Watson is due to open tomorrow morning. At this stage, it has not been confirmed where they lived.

Ruby, six, and James, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision, which happened on Kilbourne Road, Belper, at 1.25am on Sunday.

The girl's 22-year-old mother - and partner of James - was also seriously injured and remains in a critical but stable condition in the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Police confirmed she had been driving the vehicle prior to the crash. The blue Fiat Panda had collided with a railing.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Anyone with information, or anyone who has dashboard camera footage of the collision or the car prior to the crash, should call us on 101 quoting incident number 92 of April 30."
