A man accused of murdering a dad in a Derbyshire village is due to go on trial today.

Daniel Baker, 32, was found collapsed by passers-by in Mansfield Road, South Normanton, on Friday, July 19 last year.

He was taken to King’s Mill Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Baker, of Derby, died from a stab wound.

Leon Lockhart, 32, of Carter Lane East, South Normanton, was later charged with Mr Baker’s murder and his trial is due to start. He denies the charge.

A jury of six men and six women have already been sworn in.

The trial is expected to run until next week.
