A 31 YEAR-OLD man has appeared at Chesterfield magistrates’ court charged with the murder of a 52 year-old woman.
The court heard, today, September 15, how Alexander Burnett, of Westlea View, Clowne, allegedly stabbed his partner Lee Hendry to death, on Tuesday, September 13.
Police said they discovered the body of Lee Hendry, of Brimington, Chesterfield, at a semi-detached home on Westlea View and Burnett was arrested and charged on suspicion of committing murder.
Dep District Judge Astle told Burnett: “The powers of this court do not extend to hearing an application for bail but I can send you to crown court where you will have the opportunity for a bail application. In the meantime you will be remanded in custody.”
Burnett, who has not yet entered a plea, had his case adjourned until a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court, tomorrow, Friday, September 16, where a bail application can be considered.
