A grieving mum has paid tribute to her “beautiful” daughter – murdered by her brutal husband who has been jailed for life.
Andrew Knapper, 42, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court last Wednesday after changing his plea to guilty.
His wife, Sharon Knapper, 39, suffered fatal stab wounds at their Chesterfield home just before Christmas last year.
After the sentencing, Sharon’s mum, Marilyn Smith, paid a heartfelt tribute to her daughter.
She said: “I miss my beautiful daughter, Sharon.
“She was my best friend.
“We did so many things together on a daily basis – shopping, car boots, eating out.
“I will miss the excitement of planning our annual holidays abroad together.”
Mrs Smith added: “You could not wish to meet a nicer, loving, caring, beautiful person as Sharon.
“She was our life.
“We are all still grieving and I am not yet even able to display photos of Sharon as it causes me too much pain seeing how happy she was and the fact she is no longer with us.”
Mrs Smith told how her daughter had many plans for the future before her untimely death.
She said: “We were looking forward to visiting New York this year for her 40th birthday.
“It was a horrible crime but we are glad the court case is over.
“No amount of time spent in prison is going to bring Sharon back.”
Knapper was told he must serve a minimum of 15 years behind bars.
Mrs Smith thanked Derbyshire police, support groups and the wider community for their help.
