A MUM has been reunited with the son she gave up for adoption 22 years ago after he sent her a message on Facebook.
Kathryn Gaunt was left stunned when Daniel Eve wrote to her on the site saying: “I think you might be my mum. I was wondering can you remember me?”
“I just went into total shock,” said Kathryn.
“I sat there and cried, then ran outside. The day I took him to his foster family I felt the same - like I just had to run.”
Brought up in Derby by his adoptive parents, Daniel, 22, moved to Livingston, Scotland four years ago, where a chance meeting with a nurse that attended to his birth at the North Derbyshire Royal Hospital in Chesterfield sparked a hunt for his biological mother.
The nurse recognised Daniel’s surname because it was the first adoption she had overseen and it stuck in her mind.
