A grandmother whose daughter and two grandsons were killed in a house fire in North Wingfield has paid tribute to them.

Lynn Leighton has issued a statement following the death of her daughter Josie Leighton, 32, and her grandsons Tyler Green, nine, and Jordan Green, 12.

They were killed along with 27-year-old Claire James in the fire at a house on Williamthorpe Road on Wednesday.

Lynn said: “Josie was a lovely, loving daughter who had lots of friends.

“Tyler was always happy. He loved life, he loved school and was always full of beans.

“Jordan was a real character. He loved his family, specially his grandma and always had lots of friends.

“They will all be greatly missed.

“We are devastated by what has happened and we ask for privacy at this time to allow the whole family to grieve.”

Investigations by police and the fire service into the cause of the fire continue today.

Post mortem examinations are also taking place today to establish the cause of death.

Anyone with information that could help with the inquiry should contact the police using the non-emergency number 101
