Jack Rabbits cafe and delicatessen in Derby, which is run by her constituent, Amelia Horne, and supports the local community through providing its leftover products to a local homeless shelter, and buying produce locally was also singled out.

Mrs Latham praised these two women not only for their business acumen, but their desire for their respective businesses to help the local community.

She added that more needed to be done by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to promote women in business, as the number of women running businesses in the UK was comparatively low to those run by men.

“I am delighted to have so many dynamic women running businesses in Derbyshire,” Mrs Latham said.

On March 8, thousands of events were held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements as part of International Women’s Day.
