MP Mills takes a tour of '˜outstanding' school

Alfreton Nursery Teaching School was delighted to share the work of the outstanding school on May 20, during a visit from local MP Nigel Mills.

The staff, governors and headteacher Angela Stanton took a tour of the school and showed the MP around some of the school’s hotspots. Pictured are the staff, children and MP Mills at Alfreton Nursery’s Forest School site where there is a recently developed pond which has, in new residence, many creatures including tadpoles and two newts.

The pond is a new feature in the rapidly developing forest school on site at Alfreton.

Laura Dolby, Forest School coordinator said: “We’re very keen to increase the biodiversity of the area and the children are really fascinated to see it develop.”

Alfreton Nursery School is enjoying the connection and outreach with their network of teaching schools and the on site forest school area is a key proponent of their focus on bringing children in touch with nature.

Alfreton is a Nursery School and National Teaching School and has been awarded ‘Outstanding’ five times by government watchdog Ofsted.
