Mick is named the council’s man of merit

Former Ripley mayor Mick Hooley has been awarded a special Ripley Town Council Certificate of Merit Award.

Mick is the 18th person to receive the award and has done so for his outstanding commitment and contributions to the town.

Ripley-born Mick worked at Butterley Engineering for forty years and has spent most of his life playing playing sport for local clubs including Marehay Cricket Club.

He was a town councillor and was also elected as mayor twice. He was presented with the award at the Christmas light switch on by current mayor Michael Missett.
