Alex, who lives in London, takes the title role in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood at the Pomegranate Theatre.
He paid his first visit to Chesterfield on Thursday last week to launch the panto, helped by Kim Taylforth, who plays the Forest Fairy, James Campbell as jester Smiley O’Riley and town-based actor George Telfer as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.
Alex, 28, said: “Chesterfield is a really nice town and very quaint.”
Kim, younger sister of former EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth, said: “I came up to Chesterfield in April to find digs and have a look around. The area is lovely and the theatre is enchanting.
“I met most of the panto cast for the first time today; we have been laughing and teasing one another. I think we are going to have quite a lot of fun doing this panto.”
Pomegranate manager Liz Woodall said that ticket sales for the seasonal show were comparable with last year.
“Early Bird sales have been encouraging, especially in a climate where audiences are generally buying tickets much closer to the performance date,” she added.
Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood runs from December 8, 2011 to January 3, 2012. To book, contact (01246) 345222 or www.chesterfieldvenues.co.uk.
