Matlock’s famous crown is removed
Something is missing from Matlock’s Crown Square - the famous centrepiece silver crown!
But there’s no cause for concern - Derbyshire Dales District Council’s ‘Clean & Green’ team have removed it for safekeeping for the remainder of the festive season and it will be back in its rightful place early in 2015.
A spokesperson said: “Crown Square is traditionally a magnet for revellers, especially on New Year’s Eve, and the district council has learned from experience that the crown is best kept out of harm’s way.”
