MATLOCK: Sergeant takes over leadership of four teams

Policing teams responsible for keeping the streets of Matlock, Wirksworth, Darley Dale and Matlock Bath safe have a new sergeant in charge.

Sgt Adam Bryan has taken over the running of the four teams and will be responsible for tackling crime in those areas.

The officer, who takes over from Sgt Nick Reason, started his career with Derbyshire Constabulary in 2006 and has since taken on a variety of roles within the force.

These include working as a PC on Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team and as a reactive officer in Chesterfield.

Sgt Bryan said: “These four teams cover a massive area and the variety of them means there are lots of different issues to focus on.

“Safer Neighbourhood officers already do great work out in the community and I will be looking at how we can continue and improve that.

“My priority is to hunt out those people that cause the most problems for our community.”

Sgt Bryan followed his dad Steve – who was a Detective Sergeant before moving to the force training school – into a career with Derbyshire police.

After starting in 2006, he moved onto the Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team in 2007 and stayed there until 2012, when he became a reactive officer at Matlock. He was then promoted to Sergeant before taking over the running of the four Safer Neighbourhood teams.

He said: “The roles I have taken on have given me decent experience in a range of policing areas and that will help me to best serve the variety of communities we have in our area.”
