MATLOCK: Rotary Club presents dictionaries to 84 primary school leavers

Final year students at three Matlock Junior Schools were given a dictionary at the end of the school term.

Past President Peter Wigglesworth and Philip Pegg, Chair of Community Services presented a total of 84 Rotary dictionaries to junior students at, All Saints, Darley Dale and Castle View Schools.

The dictionaries are part of the worldwide Rotary International initiative to improve literacy and numeracy throughout the world.

Chairman Philip said after the presentations that he was pleased at the reception given to him and past president Peter by the teaching staff and pupils at the three schools. The children seemed to be delighted with their dictionaries which have been produced specifically for children in that age group with lots of interesting pictures.

The club hope to be able to do this again next year and that people in Matlock and the Dales will continue to support the fund raising efforts of Matlock Rotary throughout the year.
