A talk was given by Peter Barratt, the great-grandson of Alice Hawkins who campaigned alongside Emmeline Pankhurst, the founder of the Women’s Social and Political Union, known as the Suffragettes, and her daughters Christabel and Sylvia.

Peter said that his great-grandmother was arrested seven times and jailed on five occasions in her drive for equality for women.
