Firefighters were called to reports of flooding in the basement of Derbyshire County Council’s headquarters on Smedley Street at about 10.30pm.

The flooding led to part of Wellington Street collapsing and this caused a van to crash through a hole in the road and into a gas pipe, triggering the leak.
