Officers investigating an aggravated burglary in which a couple were locked in a room are appealing for information.
On Tuesday, March 14 at 10.15pm officers attended a house on Main Road in West Handley to reports of a burglary.
Three men wearing balaclavas allegedly entered the house and demanded cash and jewellery.
The men were armed with machetes and the couple were both injured during the attack and required hospital treatment.
The men ushered the couple into a room and locked them in whilst they searched the house.
Cash, sterling and Scottish currency, and jewellery were stolen including a gold Krugerrand necklace and bracelet which had around 30 coins attached to it.
The men were described as two white and one black man and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
Detective Inspector Darren Pope said: “We would like to speak to anyone that may have been offered jewellery that matches the description or has been offered Scottish currency.”
