Masked gang attacks car wash staff in midnight raid

Car wash employees put up a fight when a masked gang attacked in a late night raid.

Staff at Cromford Hill Hand Car Wash on The Hill, were getting ready for bed in the living quarters attached to the business at 11.45pm on Saturday, January 11, when the five raiders entered the property.

One employee, who was in the bedroom at the time and did not wish to be named, said the manager confronted the men.

“He was punched straight away and fell down,” he said.

“He shouted at me to call the police but my phone didn’t have any signal.”

The manager fought with the raiders before they forced their way into the bedroom, looking for cash.

When they couldn’t find any money, one of them punched the employee and took his laptop, along with another laptop which was in the room.

The staff member, who is originally from Albania, said it was his first time in the UK and he had been scared and confused by the incident.

He ran to a neighbours house and called the police.

One of the intruders was wearing a grey t–shirt and green jacket. The other men were wearing dark clothing and hooded tops. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Derek Ellis on 101.
