Mangled wreckage of car removed from Snake Pass crash scene after two men die

This is the mangled wreckage of a car involved in a horror crash on the Snake Pass which left two men dead.

The remains of the black BMW were taken away on the back of a pick-up truck during the clear-up operation mounted in the wake of the smash on Sunday night.

A Sheffield man, who has not yet been named by Derbyshire Police, died after the BMW he was driving was involved in a collision with a white Honda Civic and a silver Honda Civic.

The driver of the white Honda - a man from Cheshire - also died in the crash.

Derbyshire Police said the BMW had been seen ‘driving erratically’ before tragedy struck.

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from anyone who saw the BMW beforehand.

The BMW driver was pronounced dead at the Northern General Hospital, where three of his passengers were also taken, two of whom have serious injuries.

The white Honda driver died at the scene of the collision and a passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the driver of the silver Honda was also seriously hurt in the crash, which was reported at 9.50pm on Sunday.

A Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen Polo, which were both forced to brake heavily to avoid the crash scene, also collided but both drivers escaped unharmed.
