A man who was found dead on a Chesterfield path has been named

A 40-year-old man who was sadly discovered dead after he collapsed on a path in Chesterfield has been named.

The ambulance service was called out to the path, off Chatsworth Road, Brampton, in the early hours of Sunday, August 3.

Police, who are not treating the matter as suspicious, have identified the deceased man as Craig Rutherford, of Westbourne Grove, Chesterfield.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Police were alerted by the ambulance service after a member of the public called for an ambulance after this man had collapsed.”

Police confirmed that the path is near The Tramway public house.

Derbyshire Constabulary explained the matter is not being treated as suspicious and the police force is preparing a file for the coroner.

An inquest is due to be opened at Chesterfield coroner’s court on Thursday, August 7.

Witnesses or anyone with information who may be able help establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are urged to call police on 101.
