Man viciously attacked in Chesterfield 'may lose leg'

A man may lose his leg after he was the victim of a brutal attack in Chesterfield.

As reported yesterday, Brendon Preece was 'struck' in the leg by an offender who entered his flat on Thornfield Court on Monday afternoon.

The 44-year-old underwent surgery at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield yesterday.

His niece Zo Louise said today: "He might lose his leg.

"He can't feel his foot or his toes either."

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said officers are continuing the investigate the attack.

They added: "Nobody has yet been arrested.

"Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Ms Louise added: "If there are any witnesses who saw anything suspicious around the St Helens pub or near the flats where it happened, please get in contact with the police for the sake of Brendon and his family.

"His whole family is so worried and we just want to know who did this."
