JAIL could be looming for an attacker who hurled a pick at a man’s face.

Alix Haddon, 24, threw the axe from a vehicle at Jake Dalby outside the Blue Stoops pub, Dronfield, at 10.30pm on May 6, Jonathan Cattell, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.

Mr Cattell said Mr Dalby had a deep cut near his left eye which required stitches. He also suffered severe grazes and facial swelling following the fall.

Haddon of Abbey Lane, Woodseats, admitted a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm and was granted unconditional bail. He will be sentenced by a judge at Derby Crown Court on August 31.

“It wasn’t a moving vehicle, it was stationary, and the weapon was a slate pick,” said Bob Sowter, for Haddon.
