Man suffers ‘severe’ head injury in Pleasley smash

A man suffered a “severe” head injury and three others were injured in a crash in Pleasley.

Emergency services were called to Common Lane at about 12.40pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “It happened near to the Pleasley roundabout and it involved a white Vauxhall Vectra and a red Rover 25.

“As a result of the collision, four occupants of the Vauxhall are being treated for injuries in hospital – a 27-year-old male rear seat passenger sustained a severe head injury.”

Firefighters from Ashfield and Mansfield and a specialist rescue team from Highfields attended the incident.

The man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Common Lane was closed between the roundabout and Shirebrook but has now reopened.
