A man has been jailed for 12 months for committing crimes in the North Wingfield, Clay Cross and New Tupton.

Steven Billyeald, 41, of Crich Place, North Wingfield, was convicted of interfering with seven vehicles, stealing a bank card from a car on Lincoln Way, North Wingfield and stealing a bike from garage on Jackson Avenue, New Tupton.

He also used stolen bank cards to make contactless transactions at shops in North Wingfield and Clay Cross, and fraudulently spent almost £400 worth of goods.

The offences all took place between May and November this year.

Mr Billyeald pleaded guilty before magistrates at Chesterfield Justice Centre, on November 29, and he was sentenced to a total of 12 months imprisonment, and ordered to pay compensation totalling almost £600.

PC Steve Sweet said: “We are really pleased with this result which has seen Mr Billyeald brought to justice for his actions. Our team will continue to work to keep our communities safe and I hope this shows how crime and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

“I would like to thank members of the community for their cooperation and support during our investigation.”
