Man charged with assaulting a young girl in Langwith

A man has been charged after an alleged assault on a young girl in Langwith.

At about 5.30pm on Saturday, police received a report that a young girl had allegedly been assaulted on a path. Police said she suffered bruising.

James Spowage, 26, of The Woodlands, Langwith, was later arrested and charged with assault/ill treatment of a young person and assault on a girl under the age of 13.

He appeared at Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Monday and is next due to appear at Derby Crown Court on December 7.
