Nanda Lal Sha, also known as Jola Sha, had denied the charges but a jury at Derby Crown Court found him guilty on Monday (July 4) of two counts of indecent assault. He was found not guilty of a third count.

His victim first called police in 2000 to report that Sha had abused her during her pre-teen years in North East Derbyshire.

An investigation was launched and the case was taken to the Crown Prosecution Service but it was decided that there was not enough evidence to charge Sha.

The victim contacted officers again in 2015 with new evidence and the investigation was re-opened. On this occasion, there was enough evidence to charge the 74-year-old with three counts of indecent assault.

Sha, now of Wolsey Avenue, Doncaster, will be sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Friday, August 12.
