List exposes Derbyshire's Fanny Avenue as one of UK's silliest street names

Fanny Avenue in Killamarsh has been named as one of the silliest street names in the UK, according to a major van leasing company.

LeaseVan.co.uk has compiled a list of seven of the UK's silliest street names, based on feedback from a group of customers.

They are:

1. Trump Street, London

2. Backside Lane, Banbury

3. Fanny Avenue, Killamarsh

4. Thong Lane, Gravesend

5. Ha-Ha Road, Greenwich

6. Crotch Crescent, Marston

7. Uranus Road, Hemel Hempstead

A spokesperson for LeaseVan.co.uk said: "It makes you wonder what on earth people were thinking of when they came up with the name of these roads years ago.

"There's more than 170,000 words in the English dictionary, so why did these make the cut? They're definitely a far cry from the straightforward Station Roads and Church Streets of the country.

"But the people we feel most sorry for are the residents living on these roads. They must get tired of the stifled laughs when they tell people they live on Fanny Avenue!"
