Lighting up the streets

Pre-school children living in Bradwell will be lighting up the streets after getting their hands on free high visibility bags in a police road safety campaign.

Officers from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team visited Bradwell Pre-School to chat about road safety, taking care on pavements and the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike.

The high visibility drawstring bags were handed out during the visit, on Monday, November 26, to help keep children visible while walking on pavements when it is dark over the winter months.

PCSO Anthony Boswell, from the team, said: “It was a great visit and the children were all really enthusiastic and sensible about road safety at the same time.

“With the nights drawing in, it’s of absolute importance for people to stay visible when out on the streets.

“The high visibility bags are a great way for children who are walking to and from school with their parents to be seen by road users and to keep safe.”
