It is with great pleasure that I find myself writing in praise of the NHS.
I was visiting family in Chesterfield. My eldest daughter’s two daughters were graduating first class honours from Sheffield Hallam University. They both have jobs now in Chesterfield as a community nurse and a social worker.
After all the celebrations we took the immediate family out for a meal. It was the night of heavy gales and before reaching the car I was blown off my feet and crashed to the ground. I broke my right wrist and my pubic bone in two places. I was taken to Chesterfield Royal for three weeks where I received excellent attention.
The nursing staff were exemplary and all the people in the ward so friendly.
I have been in hospitals in London, Aberdeen and Inverness but Chesterfield was top of the list for care and humanity. Sheila Smith
