A BLOOMING marvellous event will help launch a new garden share scheme.
The green-fingered project will match Rother and Holmebrook garden owners with people interested in tending to their land.
Everyone is invited to attend the launch of the scheme at Hunloke Community Garden, on Church Street South, Chesterfield, at 1.30pm on Sunday.
The event will be attended by Chesterfield Mayor Donald Parsons and Emmerdale star Rik Makarem.
Helen Stockton, public health manager at Derbyshire County PCT, said: “The aim is to establish a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship between the garden owner and the grower.
“The garden owner benefits from having a well-tended garden to enjoy and regular social contact with their garden buddy. The grower gains access to some growing space for fruit, vegetables or flowers.”
Helen said she was interested in hearing from Rother and Holmebrook residents interested in taking part in the scheme. Contact her on 01629 537685 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
