LANGLEY MILL FIRE: Amy Smith’s family visit the scene

Amy Smith’s grandfather and great-grandmother have today visited the scene of Sunday’s fire in Langley Mill in which Amy and her six-and-a-half-month-old daughter Ruby-Grace Gaunt sadly died.

Amy’s friend Edward Green, of Belper, also died in the fire which broke out in the early hours of the morning. Both Amy and Edward were just 17-years-old.

Amy’s great-grandmother Jean Smith from Nottingham, and grandfather Trevor Smith, from Hucknall, visited the scene on North Street this morning to lay flowers. They said Amy would have been too scared to jump from the window of the flat in case her daughter was seriously hurt.

A 17-year-old from Long Eaton and a 21-year-old and 43-year-old from Sandiacre were all arrested on suspicion of murder late on Monday night. The three men are currently in custody and are being questioned.
