Killamarsh Slimming World members held their own Race for Life in a bid to raise cash for charity.

More than 35 members took part in the five-kilometre walk around Killamarsh on August 1, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Lots of the members said they couldn’t have walked that far before losing the weight they had done. Member Sarah Cardwells did the walk in memory of her mum, who was also a member of the group, She died in April.

Sarah said: “She was my world and losing her has changed everything.

“I really wanted to make the event count and I know she would have been so proud of everyone. Raising £1,000 in the process has been a bonus.

“I love helping members each week and to see so many of our members having changed their lives through food optimising and eating real food is a joy each week. To know that members can now take part in a healthy active lifestyle is amazing and shows that anyone can do it.”

The members celebrated their victory with a free Slimming World sausage sandwich at the finish line at Killamarsh Sports Centre.
