Kind-hearted school pupils are donating their Christmas selection boxes to a Derbyshire food bank.
Youngsters from Holmgate Primary School will present the festive treats to Clay Cross Food Bank next week.
Year six pupils Nia Fox, seven, Indi Fox, 11, and Mollie-Mai Dolby, ten, came up with the idea – which will help children less fortunate than themselves this Christmas. The selection boxes have come from the charitable trio and other pupils at the school. There are currently about 20 food banks in Derbyshire. The highest surge in demand has been in Clay Cross. Its food bank fed 2,557 residents last year, compared with 944 in 2012. Visit www.advicederbyshire.org for more on the county’s food banks.
