Keep warm this winter

Council chiefs have a little money to burn when it comes to keeping people warm this winter.

Derbyshire County Council has received just over £120,000 from the Department of Health’s Warm Homes Healthy People Fund.

The money will fund schemes ranging from winter information packs and winter warmth road shows to providing additional staff to carry out welfare benefits checks and expanding a domestic oil buying scheme.

The initiatives are supported by the district council, fire service, health service and voluntary organisations and are part of a drive to increase the number of services available to older and vulnerable people and reducing the instances of people struggling unnecessarily due to the cold.
