TALENTED Derbyshire singer Jessica Hobson has vowed to carry on trying to make it big in the music industry – despite her ordeal on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Jessica, 20, of Killamarsh, burst into tears in front of millions of viewers after she was criticised by judge Simon Cowell during the live semi-finals of the talent show earlier this month.
But even though she didn’t win the coveted contest, Jessica is determined to succeed as a professional recording artist.
“That’s my goal – and I want to carry on trying to achieve it,” she told the Derbyshire Times.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s behind me.”
Jessica said that Britain’s Got Talent “didn’t live up to expectations” and added: “For me, the idea was to go on and get constructive criticism from the judges, but that didn’t happen.”
The audience booed multi-millionaire music mogul Mr Cowell after Jessica sang Beyonce’s hit Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).
He said: “It started fine, then it got increasingly worse.”
Jessica claimed: “I didn’t want to sing that song. I wanted to sing something more jazzy, something more touching. But they made me sing Single Ladies.”
However, show producers have insisted that contestants pick song choices.
Jessica added: “I haven’t got anything against Simon Cowell. Backstage after my performance, he said I should enter X Factor – but after all this, I’m not going to bother.”
