Police are investigating the death of a man who was found collapsed in a street in South Normanton.

The man was discovered at 11.35pm on Friday on Mansfield Road by a couple of people who were walking along the road.

He was taken by ambulance to King’s Mill Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.

He has not yet been formally identified but is thought to be 32-years-old and not from the South Normanton area.

A post mortem examination will take place to determine the cause of his death, which is being treated as suspicious. Officers from the East Midlands Major Crime Unit are working with Derbyshire officers on the case.

A search of the area was made and house to house enquiries will also be carried out during the weekend.

Anyone who has any information that would help the police investigation or who was in the Mansfield Road area at any time on Friday night should contact the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
