Inquest opens in Chesterfield in to the death of aid worker Khalil Dale

AN inquest in to the death of an aid worker whose body was found dumped in Pakistan has opened in Chesterfield.

Khalil Dale, 60, was abducted at gunpoint in January while working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Baluchistan province.

His kidnappers left a note on his body saying he had been killed because they had not received a ransom.

During the opening at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court on Friday, May 11 Metropolitan Police sergeant Brian Hizzett said Mr Dale was kidnapped by a masked group of gun men.

Initial postmortem findings show he had been decapitated.

Mr Dale is set to be buried in the Derbyshire area as his family have a burial plot in the county.
