Inquest opens after Tideswell man dies in delivery van crash


An inquest has opened into the death of a man who was hit by a delivery van in Tideswell.

Richard Turner, 64, died following the collision in Cherry Tree Square at about 2.15pm on Thursday, November 13.

Mr Turner, of Fountain Square, Tideswell, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the opening into Mr Turner’s death at Chesterfield coroners’ court last Thursday, it was revealed he was hit by a delivery van which was reversing in slow speed.

Coroner James Newman said his office was still awaiting post-mortem results into the death of Mr Turner, who was an educator.

His inquest was adjourned to a later date.
