Inquest opened into deaths of two young men killed in Buxton horror crash

An inquest has been opened into the deaths of two young men who were tragically killed in a car crash near Buxton.

Craig Brassington, 27, and Robert Jenkins, 32, both of Sterndale Moor, were killed when their car left the road on November 12.

Chesterfield coroners’ court heard on Thursday that a passing motorist called police shortly before 1am that night to report the crash.

Detective Constable Darren Parkin, of Derbyshire police, told the court: “The witness report was that there was a Land Rover Discovery overturned off the A515 near Pomeroy.

“They said there were two fatalities as a result of what had happened.”

Both men were identified by family members the following day.

DC Parkin added that, aside from the initial witness, nobody else has come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and request the collisions investigation unit.

The inquest was opened and adjourned. A review date was set for March next year.

In the wake of the tragedy, tributes poured in on social media for the two men.
