INKERSALL: Co-operative Women’s Guild hears talk on European railways

Members of Inkersall Co-operative Women’s Guild welcomed speaker Mr F. Crawley whose subject was European Railways. He covered all the European countries, after starting off with St Pancras which is now modernised with great distinction. He was thanked by Mrs K. Hudson.

The following week the speaker was Susan Mallinson, who gave a humourous talk on how she came to act in the programme “Last of the Summer Wine”. She had many enlarged photographs to show and many funny stories to tell. Mrs D. Mears gave the vote of thanks.

The final night of February saw a visit by Mr J. Sedgwick and his two friends who showed many old photographs of Staveley and then new ones they had taken to compare and guess what they look like today. They are keen for people to search out old photographs and let them take copies of them. Mrs D. Booth gave the vote of thanks.
