Initiative to see life through your eyes

Police and housing staff are teaming up to listen to neighbourhood issues at a series of events.

The Through Your Eyes event will see officers from Matlock and Wirksworth Safer Neighbourhood Teams and Dales Housing staff engaging with tenants and residents.

The aim is to identify solutions that police and partners can work on together and find out what tenants think about the services they receive.

Residents will be given crime prevention advice and information on campaigns such as Operation Illuminate, along with tips on how they can protect themselves from crime in the winter months and darker nights.

The Through Your Eyes team will tour the area on Monday.

They will be in Tansley at the primary school area between 8.15am and 9am, then at Goldhill, Mais Close and The Knoll, between 9am and 10.30am.

From 11am and 1pm they will be at Cromford around Hawthorn Drive, Arkwright Gardens Chestnut Court and Rose End Avenue.

Between 1.30pm and 2.45pm the team will be in Middleton around Churchill Avenue, King Street, Style Croft and Duke Fields, and from 3pm to 4.30pm they will be in Wirksworth around Kingsfield Road, Bournebrook Avenue, Slater Crescent and Adam Bede Crescent.

Sergeant Adam Bryan, who leads the Safer Neighbourhood teams in those areas, said: “Through Your Eyes is a fantastic initiative and one that gives us a great insight into the issues people in our area are facing. It’s important that we listen to their concerns and find ways to address them and by heading out into the community, we can hear it straight from them.”

Jacque Allen, executive director at Dales Housing, said: “Partnership working is a key part of what we do and these joint events with the local police are a great example of this.

“They really help to reassure tenants and residents and provide them with sound advice on crime prevention.”
