Incentive puts teen on track to becoming a top driver

A Matlock teenager is using Road Safety Week to urge other young drivers to take advantage of a free safety drive funded by Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Schawn Monteiro, of Hilltops View, signed up for a free Drive Check with the Matlock Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) group. The first 25 Dales residents aged 17 to 26 who sign up get free training funded by the district council.

The 18–year–old said: “Passing your driving test is one thing, but I found the Drive Check course really beneficial because I was able to take on board feedback from my observer.”

To sign up to Drive Check contact IAM on 01629 812732.
