GENEROUS fundraisers will hold charity events this weekend in memory of a teenager who died of leukaemia.
Sixteen-year-old Naomi Smith, from Dronfield, passed away in May after being diagnosed with the cancer in January.
Now, runners will take part in the Barlow Carnival 10k on Saturday and there is to be a sponsored head shave at the Hyde Park Inn, in Dronfield, between 5pm and 10.30pm, on Sunday, to raise money for the Parents’ Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia (PACT).
These come on the back of a number of other fundraising events in memory of Naomi, who was a student at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, and played for Sheffield United Community Ladies.
Her mum, Emma, said: “Naomi was lovely. She was very fit, very healthy and very sporty.
“She loved lots of sports and had just learned to ski.
“Her death was so unexpected,” she added.
