Ilkeston: Fire crews attend electrical explosion on Middleton Road
At 11.18am today (Saturday 27th December) firefighters from Ilkeston Fire Station attended an electrical explosion on Middleton Road, Ilkeston.
The incident involved a small explosion on the pavement from an underground electric cable. A grate lid had been broken due to the explosion.
At 12:00pm more explosions were heard underground which were beginning to lift the pavement.
Police and the Electricity Board arrived at the scene and the road was closed.
Fire crews left the incident at 12:30pm and the road was re-opened shortly afterwards.
