HOLYMOORSIDE: Village hall gates on parish council agenda


Members of Holymoorside & Walton Parish Council held their February meeting at the Village Hall, Holymoorside, Chesterfield and in attendance were councillors; Martin Thacker (in the chair), Audrey Broderick, Dean Corbridge, Ann Grinbergs, Diana Hinchliffe, Pat Maskrey, Jeff Swallow, Paul Truscott, David Ward, Norman Wragg, Clerk Kate Brailsford.

Following the normal order of business, which included planning matters, declarations of interests and resolution of previous minutes from various meetings, members acknowledged actions taken by councillors on behalf of the council. Updates were received in relation to flooding issues on Holymoor Road, the annual Remembrance Service and Holymoorside Band’s willingness to attend the event without asking for a payment and issues relating to the signature of the new tennis club contract.

Health and safety matters were considered in depth, including a report following the recent bi-annual inspection, problems placing the lights on the external Christmas tree, the purchase of a new grit bin and that an additional contractor had been placed on the approved contractors list. Members also discussed their current policy in relation to locking the village hall gates during inclement weather and comments from two residents. Information was also received from the council’s official H&S advisor. It was also noted that the Clerk had discussed this policy with various stakeholders and reported that none felt disadvantaged if the gates were locked. In conclusion, members resolved that their current policy to lock the gates remains unchanged.

Correspondence in relation to bowling matters, church accounts and the placement of a shed on an allotment were also dealt with together with all financial matters including the signing of cheques, confirmation of balances in bank accounts and inpection of the salary payments.

The next meeting of the parish council will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 7.30pm in The committee room at the village hall, Holymoorside.
